Belgian rock

Belgium has produced many cool things in the past. Some of them include Jean-Claude Van Damme (…), the saxophone, ‘french’ fries, great chocolate, even greater beers etc..

One less known product of our titanesque country is a band called Vaya Con Dios which was founded in 1986 by Dani Klein, Dirk Schoufs, and Willy Lambreg. Their name is Spanish for “Go with God”… One of their more famous songs is Nah Neh Nah which includes probably my favorite line in a song EVER:

The night was young and so were we… Just the perfect mix of happiness, nostalgia and fun in just 8 simple words! Now that’s poetry I can get behind.

In total, Vaya Con Dios have sold more than 7 million albums and more than 3 million singles, those two numbers combined make up for the population of our entire country! Coincidence?

Their best album is called Night Owls which happens to be one of my favorite paintings from Edward Hopper.

PS: Actually, I just realized that the name of the painting is Nighthawks… Oh well,  I got to mention art in a post and pretend I was cultured for a second.
